Pros and Cons of Making Money Online
What are most new internet marketers concerned about when
they start their online business?
If you answered making money online in the shortest amount of time
then you’d be 100% right. Did you know that the average life
cycle of a new internet marketer is about 3 years?
I’m not kidding. It’s a little known fact the industry’s burn and churn rate
for those serious about staking their claim to internet fortunes, is right at
about 3 years. Unfortunately for most, only the strong survive and come out winners
No matter where you are in that process, I’ve outlined some steps
that will help you on your path to online business success.
Biz Opp Seeker or Business Owner?
Before all else, determine if you want a online business
opportunity or to run a business. These are two different animals.
There’s nothing more frustrating than spending your time trying
to build a business doing something you really don’t enjoy.
I have created a quick summary which highlights the pros and
cons of each business type.
Ready Made Business Opportunities:
This type of business model is usually a business in a box. By that
I mean, the business has already been set up only requiring
people and or traffic to be driven to the sales
or sign up page to recruit others.
Examples of this are: Internet Network Marketing businesses
Pros:
Low or No technical skills are required
Very little or no live customer service follow up involved
Can be operated anywhere with an internet connection
No Product Creation required
Cons:
Cookie cutter sites
No control over the sales funnel
Usually unable to own leads generated from the company or membership list
Not able to create a backend sales component
Can’t recruit members into other opportunities
Technically, not owned by the member.
Online Business Owner:
This type of business model requires the owner to determine
a niche first. Examples of this are: Affiliate Marketing,
Membership Sites, Niche Product Stores, etc.
Pros:
Learn the art of market research and niche selection
Build a set of lifetime skills
Can create a list of unique niche products
Open to set up Joint Ventures with others
Freedom to build a list
Freedom to make money from backend products to your list
This is a business you own and call sell your website for a profit.
Cons:
Weight gain from attending many Industry Seminars
Phone ear from numerous teleseminars
Burn out keyboards and cordless phones from tons of use
I was really hard pressed to find genuine cons from running
your own successful online business. There just really are
none to speak of unless you’re suffering from information
overload, lacking a true business blueprint and acting
on advice from people who are not experiencing the things
they promote.
Then yes, there would be a lot of cons to making money online
and owning an online business.
Do you want to avoid the three year burn. Even if you’re well
beyond three years, do you want to be able to finally show
something for all of your time spent online.
